Counselling

When it's about feeling better

Counselling is space for what's underneath , anxiety, stress, self-worth, identity and the transitions that shake things up. I offer reduced-rate counselling at $50 per 50-minute session as a supervised Master of Counselling practicum student with Maisha Counselling.

What people bring to counselling

  • Anxiety, worry and stress that won't switch off
  • Low mood, burnout and loss of motivation
  • Self-esteem, self-worth and harsh self-talk
  • Perfectionism and never feeling good enough
  • Identity beyond sport, and life after competing
  • Injury, grief, loss and unexpected change
  • School, work, family and relationship pressure
  • Body image and the athlete's relationship with food and rest

How I work

Warm, collaborative and practical. We go at your pace , I won't push you to talk about something before you're ready. I draw on person-centred, cognitive behavioural and acceptance-based approaches, and because I also work in sport, you won't have to explain what a season, a coach relationship or a comeback feels like.

Fees, supervision and confidentiality

$50 per 50 minutes

A reduced practicum rate. No referral needed. Some extended health plans do not cover practicum students , check before you claim.

Supervised practice

I'm a counselling practicum student with Maisha Counselling, and my clinical work is supervised by a registered clinical supervisor.

Confidential

What you share stays between us and my supervisor, with the legal limits I explain in our first session.

Who can attend

Youth from age 8 and adults. Counselling is available in Penticton and virtually anywhere in British Columbia.

You don't have to be an athlete

Sport is where much of my experience comes from, not a requirement. Youth, parents and adults who have never competed at anything are just as welcome.

Athletes are people first , and so is everyone else. If you're not sure whether you want counselling or performance work, we can start by talking it through.
